Endowment Fund..

The primary objectives of Coralwood Foundation’s endowment fund are to provide income as determined on an ongoing basis and long term growth of the principal without undue exposure to risk. The annual interest income from the endowment is made available annually to the Foundation’s board, to allocate according to its spending priorities. In contrast, the endowment’s principal cannot be spent. As a result, every dollar that goes into the Foundation’s endowment remains there forever and keeps giving to the school year after year.

The interest income is to be used to promote excellence in early childhood education at Coralwood School. This includes funding the educational innovations of teachers and other professionals at Coralwood to support the education of special needs children and peers of various ability levels. Eventually the endowment will support a full time Educational Advisor or Director of Development whose job will be to spearhead grant writing and fundraising efforts for specific educational initiatives developed and/or proposed by Coralwood staff and other professionals. Income from the endowment may also be used to support funding and acquisition of supplies, equipment, and services for Coralwood School. It may also be used to fund teacher and staff professional development so they can stay up to date with the latest advances in their fields of expertise.

Coralwood Foundation’s Board of Directors has fiduciary responsibility over the endowment, ensuring it is invested following the guidelines set out in its founding documents. These investment guidelines can be revised from time to time to reflect the changing needs and priorities of the Foundation. The current board has determined that the general investment direction for the endowment portfolio should be “balanced” or “balanced growth”.
